Summary

MetalForge is a web app for generating SwiftUI Metal shaders. The editor runs entirely in your browser and your shader work is encoded in the URL — never sent to us. We only learn anything about you if you choose to sign in with Google or buy Pro.

What we collect when you sign in with Google

When you click Continue with Google, Google asks you to consent to MetalForge receiving these basic profile fields:

Your name
Your email address
Your profile picture URL

These fields are held in a session cookie in your browser, so we can address you by name and show your avatar. If you buy Pro, your email is stored with Stripe and in our database (Neon Postgres) so we can link the purchase to your account. Accounts created before 28 September 2026 also have their name, email and avatar in that database.

Payments and billing

Pro payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe handles your card details directly — we never see or store them. From Stripe we receive a customer id and, depending on what you bought, either a checkout session id and payment id for a one-time purchase, or a subscription id, its status and its current period end for the monthly plan. We store these against your account so we know whether to unlock Pro features. If you are on the monthly plan, we open Stripe's hosted billing portal to view invoices, change payment method, or cancel.

What we collect otherwise

Nothing personal by default. Until you sign in we do not know who you are. No IP logging beyond what the host (Vercel) does for abuse prevention.
If you email us at hello@metalforge.xyz, we keep your email in our inbox like any other correspondence.

What we don't collect

The shaders or images you preview — they never leave your device.
Your card details — Stripe handles those, we never see them.
Cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.
Third-party trackers, pixels, or fingerprinting.

Your rights

You can delete your account yourself at any time, from the Account page. That removes your name, email and avatar from our database and deletes your customer record at Stripe, which also cancels any subscription. Stripe keeps the records of past payments, as tax law requires. You can also ask what we hold on you, ask us to delete it, or ask us to stop processing it, by emailing hello@metalforge.xyz. We will reply within a reasonable time.
