Terms of Use

Last updated: 2026-05-02

The service

MetalForge is a tool for generating SwiftUI Metal shaders. It runs entirely in your browser. The free tier covers the full editor and live preview; an optional Pro subscription (€5/month) unlocks downloading the generated .metal file and the SwiftUI snippet. We make no warranty that it will work for any particular purpose, and we may change or discontinue features without notice.

Your use of the tool

  • You may use MetalForge to generate shaders for personal or commercial projects.
  • The shader code MetalForge produces is yours to use and modify inside your own apps — see "Generated code" below for the limits.
  • You may not use the site to do anything illegal, harmful, or that disrupts other people's use of it.
  • You may not re-host, scrape, or rebrand the MetalForge site itself without permission.

Generated code

The MSL and Swift snippets MetalForge produces are derived from shader templates included with the site, and those templates remain MetalForge's property. We grant you a worldwide, royalty-free license to compile and ship the code you generate inside your own applications — personal or commercial — without attribution or further permission. You may freely show the running effect in your app, including screenshots and videos.

What you may not do:publish, post, share, or open-source the generated shader source code, or otherwise make it available to anyone outside your own project — whether for free or for sale. This includes posting it to a public or open-source repository, a gist, a forum, social media, or a shader or asset library, and selling or sublicensing the effect on its own. You also may not scrape or bulk-export MetalForge's effects. In short: ship the effect inside your app all you like; don't hand the shader code to anyone else.

No warranty

MetalForge is provided "as is." We don't guarantee the generated shaders compile in every Xcode version, render identically across GPUs, or fit your design — verify in your own project before shipping.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, the operators of MetalForge are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the tool.

Pro subscriptions

Pro is billed monthly at €5 EUR via Stripe. The first charge is taken at sign-up and recurs monthly until you cancel. Cancellation is one-click from the Stripe billing portal (linked from your Account page) and Pro features remain active through the end of the period you have already paid for. Card details are handled by Stripe; we never see them.

Refunds: as a remote-delivered digital service you may not have a statutory cooling-off right under EU/UK distance-selling law once you have used the Pro features. Outside that, refund requests are evaluated case by case at hello@metalforge.xyz.

Changes

We may update these terms over time. The "last updated" date above will reflect the most recent change.
